to the Greenwood Skills Center!
Here you’ll find tools for both inside and outside the classroom and library: their purpose is, first,
to improve students’ research and writing skills and, second, to enhance the value of Greenwood’s databases.
Our mission is to support the entire research process, from the conception of a topic all the way through
to the paper or presentation. Great content is only one part of successful research. Our Skills Center makes
the process less intimidating for students and helps instructors and librarians teach critical
information literacy skills.
The Skills Center is made up of three areas:
Research Tutors guide students through basic research skills and concepts in information literacy.
Wizards walk students through important research and writing tasks step by step.
Student Activities correspond to the Lesson Plans featured in the Teacher’s Corner.
Lesson Plans keyed to the Greenwood databases help instructors incorporate such topics as literature,
history, social studies, and art—to name just a few—into the classroom.
Full-text books of interest to teachers and librarians address such topics as information literacy,
avoiding plagiarism, and using technology in the classroom and library. These professional-development resources allow you to make the most of our databases.
